Covid-19 case fatality rate in Sweden and neighbouring countries. Why Swedish herd immunity model should not be followed

SWEDHR Research & Reports. Vol 5,  October 2020

By Marcello Ferrada de Noli, professor emeritus of epidemiology. Formerly at Karolinska Institute, Sweden, and Harvard Medical School. Chair,  Swedish Doctors for Human Rights – SWEDHR

The elderly have comprised the vast majority of Covid-19 fatalities in Sweden, either dying in care homes or their own residence, often alone.  By mid-May 2020, only 13 percent of the care home victims had received treatment at Swedish hospitals.  In August 2020, only five percent of the Covid-19 patients admitted for treatment at Swedish hospitals came from care home facilities.  Sweden has by far the highest proportion of deaths among confirmed Corona cases in the Nordic countries. The organization Swedish Doctors for Human Rights (SWEDHR) was founded in September 2014. SWEDHR Research and Reports started in 2015 and was our first official publication – and which also included materials in the Swedish language. Among the 32 issues published in 2015 (listed below) the analyses of the Assange case were predominant as the single subject (Assange = 12  issues; followed by Torture, respectively War Crimes, with 8 issues each). In 2016, 9 out of 10 issues were about the theme Assange case [see screenshot down-below].

In two occasions during 2018, the site SWEDHR Research and Reports was targeted by cyber attacks, which followed the suspension of the site by the Swedish web provider, which argued security reasons pertaining their servers. Subsequently,  we decided to move the domain to a server in a safer country. Unfortunately, the Swedish site has not made possible for us to obtain the transfer of our materials archived (or destroyed) there.

A selection of the articles were also republished in  The Indicter Magazine, our English-language publication that we started in November 2015. Here below the list of the reports published up to October 2015, and some of later date, in SWEDHR Research and Reports. Only the pieces which had been republished in other sites, or articles that first have been published in the Swedish mainstream media, have survived with operational hyperlinks (marked in blue colour):
